Title: Site Downtime 9th Aug 11 onwards
Post by: admin on August 08, 2011
Our (crappy) host is moving its servers at the moment and the NI-Wild service (plus blog etc) is due to move soon. Although they claim it will only take 5 minutes to move the service our DNS address (where your browser looks to find NI-Wild) is changing too. DNS is cached by your browser so after we update the records and the website is back online again your browser may still not be able to find the forum because it may continue to look for the old IP address if it is cached by your browser.

If you find you can no longer get the website, rebooting should usually work or if you're a nerdy sort typing ipconfig /flushdns from a command prompt (while all your browser windows are closed) will also work. However, this will only work after we update the DNS and our hosts can't tell us exactly when the change will happen so we're relying on noticing so if you see the website is offline and reboot / flush your DNS it wont make any difference if we haven't actually done the update.

This could all happen at any time from Tuesday onward (crappy host!) so if people could email as soon as you see anything odd it would be great. Also, feel free to drop us an email if you're having problems. Address is below.

TLDR; THE WEBSITE WILL BE GOING OFFLINE AT SOME STAGE, PROBABLY IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS. IF YOU NOTICE THE WEBSITE ISN'T WORKING PLEASE GET IN TOUCH.
