Anyone ever done this bit of the ulster way? I am going to be doing a bit of it with the girlfriend (her first wild camp) from castlerock to articlave and was wondering if the southern section toward dungiven would be challenging for her or not, is it any good? Looks smashing to me, being a hammock camper, plenty of trees!

I have done Limavady to Castlerock for my DOE.  Great wee walk.

From castlerock to articlave this section you are looking at would be road walking.  The way we walked was through the mudessen temple and forest area, much more interesting.

The small circle on the map shows where the path to the forest starts in castlerock, check it out on google street view.  I have also seen signs of wild camping in Downhill forest recently.

thanks for the replies, @Flapjack I know that area really well, plan is to go the route you recommend via downhill demesne then up the bishops road and over binevenagh and down to St Aidens, new road to articlave. (If she's decided wild camping isn't for her) or south off binevenagh and follow the ulster way to Dungiven if she is up for a bit more of a dander.
