Had this afternoon off and had to drive through the Mournes on the way home so decided to try a new mountain, Slievenmageogh, between Attical and Pigeon rock. Its only 316 meters high and has a 4x4 track going most of the way up it so a cracking wee mountain to take the family up. There's a car park at the bottom of the track (just below Pigeon Rock) so it couldn't be handier.

some great views from the top, the track up and slive muck to the right

from left muck, doan, ben crom, lamagan, binnion (clouded out) bearnagh is in there somewhere too but covered in cloud

I walked down to the forest on the other side of that crag

this weird fella was growing from the side of a tree

i also accidentally found a geocache on the summit, first time i'd ever done that

(there's also one at the car park and one in the quarrry on the way up

)

so get yourselves up this wee hill some day, well worth the (small) effort

Cheers Liam, the Western Mournes really deserve more attention than they get.
