« on: January 20, 2011 »

ill ask this here as im not sure how to start a thread it regards walking.

can anyone tell me the shortest way from portadown to the mournes.

reason i ask is i want to walk there.

i know i can walk from portadown to newry along the cycle path which runs alongside the river bann.
the bann of course comes from the mournes.
the distance it says is twenty miles from portadown to newry.

any portadown members want to join me on this mad challenge.

Hi Darren, I split this post into a new thread for you so people can find it easier.  Any time you want to start a new topic just open the board that you wish to start it in (for example "Meets, places, trips and reviews") and on the opposite side to the page numbers near the top you will see a few green buttons including "New Topic".  Click that, and the rest is wee buns :)  Bit more info here.

hi jon thanks for the info mate appreciated. :)

my idea is to walk to the mournes from portadown along the cycle path.
after 20 miles you reach newry then on into the mournes for  say 2 days,of  very challenging mountain walking then drop into newcastle.
once it gets lighter ill stay up there for days at a time.

once i know for sure when ill do it in  ill post it here and then others can join up with me.

That's a good idea Darren. It's nice to travel through an area.
