Hi everybody, new galician member!
« on: January 19, 2014 »

Hi all, I'm 25 and I'm from Galicia (north-west of Spain) and now I'm moving to Belfast. Thanks to people of HikersBlog I found your website, that it is really usefull. I like mountaneering, trekking-hiking (I don't really know which is the difference between this two concepts ::) ). I usually to hike in Galician mountains, Basque Country, Pyrynees, etc... That are very wet and rainy sites, so I think, and I hope, that I'm not going to have many problemes with the irish weather.

Ok, now you know who I am and I'll keep browsing your website for information.

Thanks a lot!!

Hi Pedro and warm greetings to you.  :)
I've walked Camino in your home area twice and yes, parts of Ireland and our weather  8) will be very like it is at home for you. No fields of sunflowers and wild poppies here though!  :)

Hi Pedro,

I'm Ed, it was me who was having the mail discussion with you on HikersBlog - I think you'll find plenty of walking partners and great routes / tips here.

You're right about the weather, we get our share of rain, but the Mountains of Mourne are worth it.

Hope you find everything you need to get started in the mountains when you arrive here

Hi Pedro, I trust you'll find a warm welcome in Belfast that'll make up for the lack of warm weather!

Welcome Pedro. As someone who has gone from Northern Ireland to Spain I have some bad news for you ;)

For every one of these

There's about 40 of these

And very little of this

Still, we have some lovely spots, you'll be fine. Just bring a jacket ;)  8)

Hi all, and thanks for your welcome!

@Spin I've walked the Camino too, the Camino Primitivo. This goes by the north, and there are no sunflowers fields in this variant.  ::)

@Aragorn thanks for the info, I can't reply your mail but I'm very grateful.

RedLeader and the rest, when I spoke with some of my Belfast friends  they always said something about the weather, rain, cold, that I will loose my "spanish sunny days",etc. But the question is that I am from Galicia, north of Spain. Our weather and our fields are more like your irish weather than spanish weather. In fact Santiago de Compostela, where I live, is the second rainy city in Europe! There is only a difference, we have summer, three months of sun and warm days   ;D

This is Galicia.  :)
