Good to see another wall in the country, the 1 in queens uni looks the part also but think you need to be a student.

Interesting.

The Queen's PEC wall is nice (I've been sneaked in a few times), but you need an annual membership which is silly money.  Even as a guest of a member it is £9 a time!!!

Must have a go at Tollymore myself - it's a nice centre, and I have high hopes for the wall based on that shallow observation  :D

I believe they are, but don't quote me on it - er, give them a ring... or I'll ask when I'm down on the 29th.

Has there been any more news on this?

I can’t believe that the uni don’t open there wall to the public, talk about missed opportunities.

Back in my mum n dad's home town the uni climbing wall is open to all and it is a good wall as well.

As far as I am aware Queens PEC climbing wall is open to the public, but you need to have a paid up public membership which unfortunately is quite expensive if you aren't regularly using the other facilities.

The wall at Queens is open to the public, and you can 'pay as you go' rather than an annual membership. I think its £4 during offpeak times although don't quote me on that. I'm also not sure how easily it is to rent gear there either. Tollymore is great for renting gear and the wall is not bad. The wall at the Ozone is great as well but expensive. Would be nice to see another wall as well, always nice to get a bit of variety.

The wall at Queens is great, plenty of new routes going up fairly regularly so theres always something new to play about on. They do quite a lot of classes though, so usage is quite restricted and it might be worth ringing in advance to check when its open

Wouldn't mind giving a climbing wall a blast (even just to confirm how carp my upper body strength is)...wonder if they hire out size 14 shoes..

That's good to know Tim, didn't realise you could make use of it without being a member!  Guess if you had your own gear and all it would be ideal.

Went down today and unless you are with a member or are a member or a student then no access.

Went to Ozone to break in my boots. Had fun  ;D

Don't know if anywhere hires out shoes - usually just a harness (you'd need your own belay plate and screwgate karabiner). There are plenty of bouldering options at the Ozone though.
I'm finding its more core stability and grip strength. My upper body strength tends only to get used to cheat when I can't work the technique properly.
