Hi Daves Missus.

Is it true that Dave only uses semi skimmed milk as the full fat stuff weighs too much?  :D

Managed to get in touch with Dave tonight via text.

It looked like he had to back track some when I was checking the map updates on-line etc. so I asked him what had happened. He said it was because he 'couldn't cross the river, it was mental today'
He also said he was 'totaly fooked ATM' and that he was about to 'woof a couple of co coda mol and sleep'

I have been keep an eye on his progress via the SPOT Tracker maps all weekend, he is going well atm but a long long way to go.

Never fun having to back track, but then it wouldn't be a challenge if there weren't obstacles to over come!  They say the third day is the toughest mentally (I wouldn't know, I didn't make it that far!) so hopefully he gets a good start to this week and finds some where to have a well deserved hot meal and whisky ;)  Keep 'er lit Dave!

Text from Dave this morning, after I asked him about his back-track.

"Last night was literally the first time I've had phone signal. Jet boil is great. I was ready to pack it in last night was totally f**ked. I had started towards river crossing and a group that had camped at it had came back saying it looked dangerous and there was three of them so had to back track and do shit loads of road walking. Was zoned out and missed the bridge over to the other side of loch Garry and I really didn't want to back track again. No idea how far I walked yesterday. Still to get up but feel much better although I've a few blisters. The weather was mental think the time I walked the Brandy Pad with Lenny except wetter and stronger winds :( its still raining but only sounds like showers. I dropped my sisters camera on the ferry !! and its banjo'd :( so iphone pics the whole way. Think I've about 7 mile to do today going to try and take it easy. My boots leaking like sieves too I could never tell if they where or it was sweat but they deffo leaking the walking action must open something up as I had them in a basin and they seemed fine"

I think asked him if he thought he would be able to finish the TGO Challenge,

"I honestly no idea :-/ was seriously ready to quit last night, really didnt think I had it in me to do another day never mind finish. Turned my phone on and loads of well wishing texts and talking to Jean really helped. Before I couldnt care but after it I felt more determined. She said my dads obsessed with tracking me he takes every point and maps it properly along the track instead of a line from one to another :) she went for dinner there yesterday and said it was updates the whole day lol. I'll get to Fort Augustus today and see how I feel."

"lol at one point I had to run up the road a bit. I heard this creaking and looked around and saw this huge beech tree limb ready to fall on top of me! It was all cracked at the trunk I'm sure its down by now."

I know I haven't checked in on this thread in quite a while.  Though I remember talking to Dave for quite some time in Cotswold before he left.  Think I told him that I'd love to do it sometime.

However, for what it's worth, good luck Dave, and push to the final step!  :)
