Title: Wanted: One man tent
Post by: whoRya on January 13, 2011
Just chancing my arm in case anyone on the forum has a one man tent they want rid of.  Thinking along the lines of a Pro-Hike or a Gelert Solo (not expensive to begin with I know).  Definately want to go the double-skinned (inner & outer) route.  Perhaps you've moved on from one of these to something with a higher spec.

I'm really not sure if I'm convinced as to whether I want to eventually invest in a lightweight one or two man tent, so looking for something cheap in the meantime.  I have a couple of friends who are up for a bit of camping so I think I would prefer splitting a two man tent, but then I don't have the flexibility to go it alone or jump into a NI wild camp.

Let me know if you can help.

I can never bear to part with tents, regardless of whether I still need them or not - I'm a hoarder!!

However, Amazon will do you a Gelert Solo double skin tent for £24.99 delivered and I can't imagine that second hand you'd save enough to warrant not taking a shiny new one.

The Pro Action Hike Lites are really hard to get these days. I think I still have one without poles - if you could locate a set plus pegs you're welcome to it.

Just ordered the Gelert Solo on Amazon (cheers RL). I took out the Amazon credit card as well and used the £10 voucher straight away, so that is a Solo on the way for £14.99, delivered!

Looking on Field and Trek I noticed there is a Karrimor X-Lite 100 which is a lightweight one man tent available for £40.  Perhaps an option for anyone looking a solo camp option?  It only has one photo which is from the outside, the dimensions are on there though.

It is odd, but Karrimor have no details on their site about tents.
