Slieve Meelmore 29.06.18
« on: July 02, 2018 »

A camp out at Slieve Meelmore on Friday. Left Meelmore Lodge, hiked round Spellack then joined the path up to Meelmore. Stopped at the water pipe to refill (it's a really weak flow compared to the Commedagh pipe) and enviously watched a group of climbers on the Bearnagh slabs before heading up to the summit. It was a warm, glorious night watching the strawberry moon appear between the Bearnagh Tors. There were a few lights on Binnian and Bearnagh then around midnight a couple of night hikers ascended the hard slog up Bearnagh.

Cheers, the pipe is about half-way up Meelmore on the left side of the wall from the Bearnagh/Meelmore saddle. It's about half the diameter of the Commedagh pipe and lower to the ground in amongst some rocks, so it can be a bit hard to notice. It's around this area:

Great vid.  Really useful to know the location of the pipes as it will save you carrying loads of water to summits.  Thanks I must save the location.

Thanks, those water pipes are so handy especially as both of them are half way up the mountains.

Hi,

Would you have a grid ref for this water pipe? I searched the area but could not find anything.

Thanks

No grid ref but listen out for the trickle of water and the wetter area about half-way up. The pipe is on the ground amongst some rocks, it is hard to notice.

Thanks for that. Did find a water source but did not spot the pipe. So must have been in the correct area. Will take a better look the next time I am up there.
