Commedagh summit camp
« on: February 10, 2011 »

Last year before the MMM Myself, Billybackpack and his poor sister in law gave the previous years D class route a blast but instead of tramping to the campsite at Bloody bridge we went for a summit camp on Commedagh instead. Here a some pictures of the camp.
(Date is wrong on camera)

Fantastic pictures!  I love cloud inversions, never seen one from above though.  Where was the one looking down a ridge at a cairn taken from?

I was up Commedagh for the first time last weekend but visibility was poor.  I followed the wall (on the North side) up from Slieve Corragh to the lookout tower then followed a compass to the cairn, then back to the wall and down to the saddle.  I don't recall any terrain like that in that photo.

Once you get to the summit cairn just keep walking dead ahead. I'm pretty sure that ridge seperates the Pot of pulgarve and the pot of  legawherry

Better late than never posting those photos :P :D

Looks like a class outing, although the photos have me pining for warm weather again!  I've yet to see a cloud inversion, think will be on my list of things to experience this year!

What causes a cloud inversion?  How do you know when to expect the circumstances in which they occur?

I didn't read it all but there's a pretty full explanation.

oh, that is quite ridgy. I came up that way in the storm the Meelmore night. Couldn't see a thing so stayed a bit to the right to avoid flying lessons!
