Translink is now running a special Mourne rambler bus service until August 31.

The 405 rambler service, operated with support from the Rural Transport Fund, will run Tuesday – Sunday and aims to reduce social isolation in more rural areas as well as enable visitors to enjoy the beauty of the Mournes.

Translink Service Delivery Manager Gary Mawhinney says the service has an important role to play over the summer months:

“This is a great opportunity for both local people and visitors to get out and about in the better weather and longer days to enjoy the stunning landscape and great attractions that can be found in the Mourne area.

“Whether it’s a stroll with icecream along Newcastle’s promenade or a trek through Tollymore Forest Park, it’s the perfect location for the outdoor enthusiast and by leaving the car at home passengers can sit back, relax and really soak up their surroundings.

“The service is a cost effective way to travel with a range of special tickets available and passengers can also pick up a copy of our Translink Rambler Guide from local Ulsterbus stations featuring route maps to help plan their journey.

“We hope more people will take advantage of this hassle-free rambler service and enjoy the unique charm of this special area,” said Gary.

An All Day Rambler Ticket is available at £5.50 per adult or £2.75 per child. A special Translink Family and Friends Ticket is also available on Saturdays and Sundays as well as the main school summer break. It offers unlimited bus and rail travel for up to two adults and four children for just £20.
