Far too big.  The bigger the bag the more stuff you will fill it with and therefore the more you have to carry.  I would say, for a weekend away a 60-70l would be more than enough and that's without going minimalist. Lots of room for creature comforts in a 60-70l bag.

I'm not sure, but I think the side pockets come off those military style ones. But I agree, something around 60/70 l is enough. Your roll mat can be tied outside.

I'm still unsure about the mil-tec molle range. My 30 litre day sack fell apart quicker than Katie Perry's marriage. The molle packs are great I'm just not sure of the quality of the mil-tec brand molle stuff.

Would that one be fine ?

Personally I'm not a fan of side pockets as they make a bag really hard to balance properly, and they seem like pockets on steroids! Also, you become twice your actual width and makes hiking in anything other than very open land quite difficult. I know nothing about army gear, but for that money I'd go around a few outdoor shops and try on the bags there and find something that suits your shape. Just cause you like the look of a bag, it doesn't mean it'll suit you. For that money, I'd do some research in person, trying everything on.  They'll also add weight to sacks, so it'll give you some idea of how heavy a fully loaded 70l sack is and will make you want to go for a smaller bag so you never end up hiking with that weight!

If you really want a big pack the pro-action 90+10 at £43 in argos is good value, i know someone with one and he is happy with it

but i'd recommend the regatta 65 litre at £35, if find it isn't quite big enough you simply use the external straps to hold the tent and rollmat

You can wrap roll mat up in a black bin bag  ;D also handy to stuff extra coat/jumper in and use as a seat

Wolf, you have an interesting and amusing way of looking at gear.  On the same thread you have posted links to a £129.99 rucksack as well as a £10.99 rucksack!

A suggestion would be to have a good look round the shops, it may help you decide on the kind of features you are looking for.

I dont think this backpack will be water proof, so what do you call the thing i can buy to make it water proof while walking, and do they state the 70 Lite size on them ???

P.S I have no idea about camping to be honest so thats why i ask here, dont realy like big stores would rather use army surplus or something along them lines as they are alot cheaper than cotts world, blacks, ETC.......

Rucksacks tend not to be waterproof, some may be good at shedding light rain.  But most people will either waterproof the contents of the rucksack or the cover the rucksack on the outside with a rucksack rain cover.

The contents can be waterproofed using plastic bags/bin bags or more robust dry bags or rucksack liners which you find in any of the outdoor shops or even the like of TK Maxx.

It's hard to beat actually seeing some of the items in the flesh, even to get an diea of what they are like.  It's your choice to buy it from where ever you wish after that.
