Done :D

Bloody hell it doesn't half enlarge them does it! Seems an interesting concept tho, The speed aspect coupled with the realibility of meths.
-
they are big pictures. wonder if the heat transfare thingys actually spead up the boil time?
-
I've read reports on the Jetboil that the heat exchanger make a huge difference as less heat disappears.
-
I was tempted to try a pot like the Primus EtaPower (http://www.backpackinglight.co.uk/product380.asp) which has a heat exchanger, presumably it would still improve boil times on my Honey Stove. Also thinking of getting a pot cosy as I ended up using a lot more fuel over the weekend than I imagined! After boiling over my Pasta 'n Sauce I think I might have more luck with the cosy than the simmering ring ;)
-
I was very smitten with the Eta Express. I was toying with swapping back to gas but tbh seeing the hassle Spark had warming her cannister put me off it a bit again. Trangias might be a bit slow and maybe heavier over a few days but their simplicity and versatility impresses me.

Yeah, I rather liked the Eta Express 1 litre setup - think it comes with the Express stove, the rather excellent Primus windshield and the heat exchanger pot/fry pan for £65 or thereabouts. That said I just cant bring myself to go gas, just seems too domesticated :D
At the weekend I really should have used my Honey Stove as a wood burning stove rather than with the Trangia burner. There were stacks of sticks and twigs perfect for burning and I could have easily boiled water just using the wood that was lying around my feet. That would save me the weight of fuel and the burner... but comes with the added uncertainty of not knowing whether I can get the thing going or not :)
-
so the meths powered revolution is now on!
I wonder if I could replace my trangia burner with one of these...?

Would it fit in my mini potstand and pot?
-
I'd agree about gas feeling domesticated. Theres something about a meths stove that makes you feel like you're really outdoors. ITs true you dont get the same control over the heat but I'm not much of a chef so it doesn't bother me.
-
Would it fit in my mini potstand and pot?
I'd say you could ditch your mini pot stand altogether and just use the supplied windshield:
...it acts as both pot support and cooker and comes supplied with a light, soft aluminum heat reflector and windshield.
And it should work with the mini pot:
...which means the spread of the flames is slightly wider then you might think. This makes the cooker perfect when combined with pots of 90mm diameter or more.
Suppose the only downer over a Trangia burner is that with the Trangia one you could screw the cap back on and keep some fuel in it. And the White Box doesnt seem to have any control over heat. But if you combined it with a pot cosy (http://www.backpackinglight.co.uk/product212.asp) then it could be a pretty compact setup?
-
I like the pot stand as it helps to prime the stove with a little extra splash of fuel thrown in. I like the trangia mini set up but this white box stove seem to have a higher heat output and shouldimprove boil times.
You know the craic with gear porn always thinkin about the next unnessasary bit of kit ;)
-
So what exactly is a white box stove?
-
I think its something similar to a coke can stove only mass produced and very very light and robust.

Have never had any bother like that before and ive been using the just boil for nearly 4 yeas now, it seemed to be doing funny things with that can of gas all night im under the conclusion it was a dodgy can ??
