Title: Lake District
Post by: Dollywaggon on August 18, 2011
Living in North Tyrone , don't drive and I'm thinking of going to the LAKES (Cumbria ) by coach in the Autumn to back-pack.  Usually have travelled there from Manchester ; no problems with National. Have travelled back & forwards to Ireland via Dublin but the arrival in M/CR  is 5am. Only one daily coach from M/CR to the Lakes : 3pm. Has anyone done this trip by coach using other routes. I've an option of staying in Penrith overnight but would only use it as the last resort. I can get easily enough to Belfast. Any suggestions (within the bounds of probability!!!!) would be much appreciated. Vinny   Ps . usually takes me a day Eng./Ire. ; so speed is not an requirement.
Thank you.

What's the train system like from Stranraer or buses, I'm sure if you got the bus to Carlisle you could get a transfer to the lakes from there.
When I did it I just drove down from Stranraer to Penrith and then to Ullswater, It roughly took about 4 hrs..
