Depending on your intended uses I would argue for Swanndri gear. If your main interest leans more towards bushcraft then their Tahr anoraks will be bomb proof. But be prepared to splash out on the cash.

Do you want something that is both warm and waterproof or just waterproof and then wear a warm layer beneath like a fleece? If so you can't beat the British Army DMP Goretex jacket. They're hardwearing and at around £50 from eBay, the cheapest Goretex jacket you're likely to see. (Same goes for the DPM waterproof trousers)

I agree have had many a set waterproofs from some big names but the dpm surplus ones i got 3 year ago for a hiking trip around a very wet co donegal have held up better and kept me warmer .

Jacket iam after would be for the shelter building general wear type have a few good rab jackets but not stand up to woods and stuff were grand when hiking from a campsite to another but not so good for bushcraft i would think.
