« on: January 09, 2013 »

hi guys ,any advice on re-proofing a Mountain Equipment hardshell jacket,
it was put through the wash (accidently)and no longer beads up like it used to.
Had a quick look on line and it seems nikwax tk washin and grangers washin products pop up most ,
any recomendations?

Some people prefer the spray on waterproofing but I'd prefer the wash in stuff myself. I find that way you don't have to worry about missing any bits.

Grangers do a good 2in1 where it washes and proofs it all in one wash.

If you don't  want to "shell" out on tech wash, soap flakes will do the same job at a fraction of the price. Just make sure you wash out the soap drawer thoroughly and put the machine through a rinse and drain  cycle  at least to get rid of the detergent.

Ive used the nikwax tech wash and proofer on my waterproofs

My ME Ogre beads better now than when new.

If its just been washed you could try reactivating the dwr by a warm tumble dry or iron

Has anyone used Fabsil waterproofer spray? I bought some after reading the reviews on the internet, but haven't got around to using it on my jacket yet.
