I'm hoping to take the small boy to Meelmore Lodge for his first camping trip tomorrow. If anyone is in the area and fancies a bit of chat around the BBQ (no fires!) they're more than welcome to join us.
Has anyone any experience of Meelmore? I've not been before. Their website doesn't work properly and doesn't even have a phone number.

Crap. Someone has just pointed out that The Prodigy are playing to 15,000 people in Newcastle tonight so I don't know whether Meelmore will be full of nutters tomorrow. Has anyone any alternative suggestions for a campsite not around Newcastle that would be suitable for a 10 year olds first camping experience, ie somewhere that has a family atmosphere and toilets?
Thanks

What abot Tullymore forrest I had my two year old there a few weeks ago it was dead on running water and toilets.
Castlewellen has a great forrest pack with camp site too.

Do you know if the Meelmore lodge people mind you using there car park if you go for an overnighter in the Mournes. Cause i've heard a lot of bad reports of cars being broken into in the public carpark before it?

Thats what the carpark was originally designed for - they have a pay and display meter, I think its £4 a night (but don't quote me on that :D)

Happy dayz
Any time i've parked in the public one there seems to be awful lot of broken window glass. Don't fancy leavimg the car overnite there >:(
