Does anyone have the Garmin NI discoverer maps for their GPS? I'm wondering what they're like in terms of detail etc.

I dont have any maps loaded onto my GPS. Just buy a physcal map if you want great detail.

OS now do specific maps made to print to your own specific route.

I have them, they are fantastic. They are just a copy of the most recent os map and GPS depending offer 3D terrain mapping. Road coverage is also a good inclusion to the package.
