I'm not really getting this? What does it show?

There seems to be a trend of voting for your favourite item multiple times? Does that not just show who ever is logged on the longest can pick the item that will end up with the most points?

Is the game meant to be like this or is it meant to show everyones overall favourite? I thought the rules said take turns?
