Title: mil-tec multi purpose waist/thigh pack
Post by: Moxy on November 22, 2014
I recently bought this on amazon and have found it great while out walking for keeping light waterproofs, torch, knife, chocolate etc etc. It means I don't have to go rooting through my rucksack when im in a rush or during a sudden downpour. It is really well made, big Velcro flaps, strong zips and buckles. it could be worn as an outdoors-type handbag if that's your thing? I know it looks very lara-crofty, but it suits my tight shorts and vest top! lol My question to you all is... Would any of you use it and if so, what would you keep inside it?

Haha! The wife is sick to death of me talking about this, from the moment I ordered it until now, and the look she gives me when I strut around the house in it is priceless. I have nicknamed it the babe magnet! Lol

Does this go around the waist and straps to a leg? Looks handy enough for snacks / drink but it's probably less comfortable than a waist pouch type thing (I'm trying desperately to not say bumbag ;))

Yes it does strap round your waist and leg. The two straps actually make it very comfortable. I certainly haven't experienced any leg chafe from the leg strap. Both straps can adjust loads for the 'less slender' ones of us. Also the leg strap can be fully removed for the butch handbag option.

When hiking I always find that getting snacks and drinks is a hassle because it means having to undo my rucksack to get into it and then having to do it back up again before setting off so if I had this pouch then I would most definitely be keeping snacks, bars, drinks etc. inside of it to make them easily accessible when on the go.

How big is it though?

Main pouch you could easily fit a family size packet of crisps ( think chilli sensations) there's a Velcro pouch on both sides and I keep a small torch and multi tool in them. The zip pouch on the front is as tall as a glow stick (I keep 2 in there) and there's plenty of room for more stuff like chocolate and a brew kit. there are two tiny zip pockets, suitable for money, lighter etc. I find it to be a handy job, having snacks and waterproofs that are so handy to get to. Less confident people seem threatened by my manliness when I wear it! Lol
