Alright folks
Been a member of the forum for a few months now and made my first post last weekend about wild camping on islands in Lough Erne.
Thought it would be a good idea to pop my 2nd post here for an introduction (arse about face, I know!!! :) )
Did a lot of hiking/camping 15-20 years ago and loved it and now getting back into it.
One of my biggest memories from that time is camping at the donnard saddle in an old garden tent (the triangle ones with the vertical poles.
Nothing too great about that I here you say!!
Except it was in Febuary and in a household sleeping bag from Argos, woke up in the morning with every stich of clothing on, in my sleeping bag which was inside my bivy bag and I still had cold feet. Found out the reason why I had cold feet was because the bottom of the sleeping bag was rock hard with ice!!!!
The things you do when your nineteen and desperate to camp out!!!
Have learned my lesson and try to be a bit better kitted out these days.
Bought a canadian canoe at christmas and have done a few day trips on the bann in it, and now looking to do some camping and canoeing in that, so any tips would be appreciated, cheers.
Also enjoy jumping out of perfectly good planes as well to get rid of the stress from a hard weeks work but also find that the quietness of the great out doors works a treat for that and no better place in the world than our very own sperrins and mournes.
Look forward to reading and posting with you guys in the future as to date I am impressed with the forum.
Have a good sumer folks
Rob :)

Welcome Rob.
I have a canadian too (and am also a novice) so maybe we can get out sometime.
There's a trip to Salt Island in a few weeks if you fancy it. More details here:
