I headed for Slieve Bearnagh last week for a first solo summit camp.

Re. solo woodland camping, I agree it can be spooky. I bivvied in Annalong Forest there in January and around dusk it was very Blair Witchy! But when it got really pitch black and I had a fire going it was actually pretty relaxing. I put my back to a rock and had an emergency bottle of Buckfast which I could either down or smash over an intruder's head in the case of emergency ;) (in the event I never even cracked it open).
