Didn't so much as get a rod in the water this year when the mackerel were running. Bought some pike gear a few years back but haven't used it yet, looks like slightly more exciting fishing!

same here, last year was such a good shooting season i think i only got out for the pike once, but i heard my local river ,the Quolie was fishing bad anyway,over-fishing mainly.but as you were saying pike fishing can be very exciting, these brut's can bite back !

when i was a lad i cycled out to lough money many times for a bit of piking, about 5 of us used to go, was great craic, but don't think i ever caught more than 2 fish in my life :-[ good thing i didn't catch any of those monsters, would have been hard to carry back on my bmx :D

Lough money is a great spot for some real cracking pike well over twenty ,some thirties as well, although you need a game permit to find it as it's stocked with trout

I love lough money, go there regularly for walks but havent fished there in years, really must get myself a game licence! Slievenagriddle is a great spot for a walk, cracking views, love it up there!
