Title: Carnfunnock Autumn Fest (26 Sep 09)
Post by: eventadmin on September 03, 2009
Carnfunnock Country Park will soon come alive with the sights, sounds and smells of autumn with its first-ever “Autumn-fest” event.

On Saturday 26th September, the Park will be a hive of activity, with a tremendous variety of stalls, workshops, demonstrations, guided walks and more throughout the afternoon.

There will be a fantastic programme of activities for the entire family. Visitors will find a wide range of seasonal, fun things to do while taking in the crisp fall air of the beautiful Larne countryside.”
World of Owls will be there with some of their feathered friends while Northern Ireland Bushcraft Association (NIBA) will be demonstrating the wild foods available in Carnfunnock.

As the leaves begin to turn, there will be guided walks around the park to see the autumnal colours, and Larne Borough Council’s Biodiversity Officer will demonstrate constructing homemade bird feeders.  The RSBP, Wildfowl and Wetland Trust, and Glens of Antrim Red Squirrel group will also be there, to provide information about autumnal changes to wildlife and birds.

In the walled garden there will be fantastic autumnal craft demonstrations from wood-turning to basket-weaving along plenty of autumnal “foodie” treats to try.

As if that weren’t enough, Vikings will be invading Carnfunnock for the day, and there will even be a chance to learn how to sword fight!

The event runs from 1-5pm and normal car parking charges apply. For all the latest information on this event and more, visit www.larne.gov.uk or contact 028 2826 0088.

Hi all the NIBA event at the autumfest went very well. It seemed to tick all the boxes as we were trying to promote bushcraft to the full. I have discussed the meet up matter with gary and we intend to hold a NIBA meet on sunday 15th November. We will be putting out the details to everyone on the NIBA contacts list but im sure there are a few on here who are not on it so if you would like to add your name to the list attending the meet i will start a new thread and you can post your details there. We are very much into theme days, so if everyone who would like to meet up posts at least 3 things they would like to look at eg, shelter, fire ,wild food etc we will take the most popular and that will be the theme for the day. I hope to meet you all soon.
( We will be running as many events as we can in the coming year so if you miss this one dont worry there will be others. Only events posted by myself or gary Celt Ginger are organised NIBA events. I have posted details of this meet on meets places trips and reviews. please leave your details there.
Regards

Paul

I have to agree with all the above, both Paul and Gary put in a lot of hard work to make this come off and it did so in great style and to great appreciation from the public, well done fellas ..
