Canadian Canoeing
« on: May 28, 2018 »

Hi,

Just wondering if there are any forum members involved in canadian canoeing based in  the tyrone/derry/donegal area. Things like weekend outings, training, whatever really.

Did a bit a while back and am looking to get back into it with a few like minded folk. Or if anybody fancies starting something up let me know cause i'd be interested.

Thanks.

I had a Canadian for a few years but I got rid of it when I couldn't find the time. Worst mistake I ever made, I really miss it now and they're wild expensive to buy.

To answer your question, I'm not in your area and don't have a canoe but it seemed like a good excuse for a moan ;)

It's true, they cost a small fortune. There are a few outdoor pursuits company's that rent them out for the day or weekend so i might give that a go to start off with.

I've heard of companies that will hire them for overnights. I think it's Mobile Team Adventure. I think they'll drop them off and collect them too for a fee.

The Ulster Canoe Club is all over the province.  Go where there's water :) www.ulstercanoe.club.

Hey there, myself and 7 others were able to organise a 2day/1night canoe trip on the Blackwater last year with the people from Castlewellen (onegreatadventure.com).We started at the Moy and finished the next day at Coney island, we had one guide with us and all we needed to bring was our food and sleeping gear the rest was supplied, and for anybody that didn't have sleeping gear they would have supplied it too.
We all met at Castlewellen and were transported to the start of the trip and home again the next day, we all paid £100 each which was pretty good i thought for the service and looking after we got.

They do trips all over the place and we couldn't rate them highly enough, be worth checking out or giving them a shout.

Hello Darren,

Sounds like a great adventure, I wish there were more events like this.

I'd like to kayak or paddle board the River Lagan, I know the various locks and wiers will hinder the trip but I see them as added fun
