There's the potential for a quick Salt Island trip either leaving tomorrow (Friday) and camping until Saturday or just a trip over and back on Saturday morning. Not sure about numbers but if I would be bringing an 11 year old.
Could be a fun one, the weather looks good at this stage but obviously that could change.

As ever I'd be up for it but.....................It's a probably a bit short notice this time for me to get sorted :'(

Have a pop at it, looks like it could be a great weekend :D Theres prob 3 boats and 4 people including Pete going at the moment. The bothy is free so we'll probably aim for a night infront of a campfire and sleeping in the tent but if it gets parky we'll retire to the bothy. Weather is for light winds and some sun.
At the minute leaving Killyleagh 630/7pm Friday, coming back Saturday at some stage. Gotta get your camping in where you can at this time of year!

You missed a blinder, we had an awesome time. Got over about 8pm and the weather was brilliant for September - warm and dry. Got a fire going and sat around having a few beers and laugh. Salt Island is a top spot when the weather is good. Only downside was we had to be up and away on early on Saturday to catch the tide.

If Carlsberg did canoe trips, it would probably be this one lol, looked like a great evening to be out on the Island, and the water was so calm. only ever had one problem with this trip, and thats the colossal amount of DOG POO at the put in!!!!

True, putting in at Killyleagh Yacht Club is a pain in the ass but it's the easiest place. At low tide it's a nightmare..

nice one jonno looks like you had a blast.

666_pack we're going to have to get one of these canoes Salt island looks like a crackin wee camp spot
-
very true mate.

it is a good spot, theres a forested area at the bothy, good for camp craft and shelter building, the bothy it self is good, with a wood burning fire in it, flushing toilets, fresh running water, inside and out. 2 brick bbq's, and at the north end of the island there's a campsite with a natural type toilet, If going by canoe just be careful of the tides, and weather conditions it can become a challenge.
