Camping Weekend - 8th May 10
« on: April 23, 2010 »

Anyone fancy a weekender on Sat/Sun 8/9 May 10

Just to confirm, this is tomorrow at our usual spot in Donard Forest. We'll be meeting in Donard Car Park at 1130am-ish - feel free to meet us there or up at the site later. Anyone that wants directions, a map or any other information PM me or Billy Backpack.

I'm thinking something gentle so everyone can get their tents aired or have a first go at bivying / hammocking / sleeping in a tree. Something along the lines of Donard Forest and we'll do open fire cooking part deux - maybe leg of lamb followed by some craic around the fire. There would be no reason not to come up for just the afternoon if an overnighter poses a problem and anyone who's new can also get a bit of help and direction with new gear etc.

There's no reason that the energetic types can't incorporate a walk / cycle / parachute jump and meet us at the camp later.

Who's up for it - I'm happy for a family weekend if anyone else is bring kids or partners.

Food discussions for this weekend are here.

Anyone coming up to meet us, we'll be flying the NI-Wild flag as below :D

Preliminary list:
J + family
Chris
SuspectMonkey + Kat
BillyBackpack + family
matthewrblack

MikeD

Amy_85 + 1

That looks like a very professionally pitched tent in your photo Jonno ;)

I'm definitely in for this one.  Is this going to be our "skills day" as well then?

This would be a good chance for me to try out my bivvy, but I might need to share a tarp with someone?

It's not the skills day as such in that we wont be doing anything specific (that will be in a few weeks). More that people know that someone will be on hand to help - just incase there were any newcomers nervous about a first time out.

Sounds good, I've been up the black stairs before and its a fun wee scramble, I'll be bringing my dog but she'll have her harness incase I need to drag her up some parts!

Not tomorrow but I do have some holidays to take in the next month if you fancied a midweek trip or two. I'd have to either give you a royal kicking or make you walk backwards or something if I wanted any chance of keeping up with you though. You're like the freakin Terminator once you get going  ::)
