Title: Dry Cleaning a Down Jacket
Post by: RedLeader on November 07, 2014
I have an elderly The North Face down jacket that was in desperate need of a clean and had an arm covered in some sort of unknown sticky substance. I'd never worn it in the mountains, it was purely for winter high street type use but it survived 7+ years really well and I didn't want to risk damaging it.

I took it to my local dry cleaner who said cleaning it was no bother at all and £10 later it's lovely and clean with zero damage that I can see. I have no idea if the cleaning extends to the down fill inside the jacket as I've no idea how dry cleaning actually works but either way it seems all good now.

Just in case anyone is dithering over dry cleaning down, it seems like it's fine. I think I'll call again and ask if they can do sleeping bags too!
