Northern Ireland Survival School
« on: October 10, 2011 »

Hi everyone,

Something exciting has just happened to the outdoor education experience in Northern Ireland!

That something is Northern Ireland Survival School. NI Survival School was born out of our shared dream for interested people to get high quality bushcraft and survival education without the need to spend hundreds of pounds travelling to the main land.

Our bushcraft  and survival courses  are set in spectacular, inspirational landscapes and are structured to give you the best possible experience. We’ve spent the  years fine-tuning our skills to give you the ultimate in outdoor learning - with intensive tuition and small class sizes, that will hone your skills and ready you to have your own adventure experience.

We are offering courses in Bushcraft, survival and wilderness living skills to individuals, clubs, private groups and corporations interested in team building.

To find out more why not visit our new website at www.nisurvival.co.uk where you will find a course calender instructor profiles and gallery. Alternatively contact us via email on  nisurvival@gmail.com.

Our course structure follows a modular theme with plenty of scope for advancement, personal development and challenges. We base our courses in Northern Ireland and we use materials commonly found here. To often it is the case in this type of course were materials are imported and therefore unavailable to the student when they return home to practise.

In the coming months we will be offering the following 1 day courses which we are operating out of a private estate in the Ballymena area.:-

Primitive fire
Shelter
Wild food
Winter survival

We will also be offering a weekend long introduction to bushcraft which will both challenge and inspire you. This course will include elements of all of the above courses and will be very intensive.

At present we have dates up for the first Primitve fire course on the 13th of November 2011. The course will include many aspects of making and maintaining fire in the outdoors. Amongst others activities the student will be set a number of challenges throughout the day to focus and develop skills. They will also construct their own Bow drill set from materials gathered from the woods and learn the finer points of this technique. Many other bushcraft skills will also be covered.

For those that have attended the basic courses that we have run at Carnfunnock with the Northern Ireland Bushcraft association It is important to note that these new courses will go into far greater depth and endeavour to start the student on the road to a high level of proficiency.  When you finish our courses you will be armed with the knowledge as well as the skills to not only survive in the outdoors but to thrive in our own environment.

So if you are interested in learning bushcraft or would like to improve the skills you already have,  contact us you won't be disappointed.

Thanks,

Andy and Paul.

Congratulations Paul and Andy getting the survival school up and running.  Wish you both all the best and I will have no hesitation recommending your courses.  Hopefully will get along to one of them myself at some stage :)

Cool!
I like the idea of the long day courses - keeps the cost reasonable so people don't have to save specifically... got a bit of cash, got the day free, sorted.
I could do with a fire refresher, and the wild food would be great. Hopefully can get to some of these. Think my mate would enjoy it too.

Posting link on FB now to spread the word.

I've managed to miss all the courses to date so hopefully I'll catch the next few. Bushcraft is much more fun in the winter anyways, nothing better than a bit of outdoors survival fun round a nice big open fire!

Especially after starting the fire with nothing but one match, natural tinder and some perfectly graded kindling 8) ;)

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the great feedback. Funny you should talk about TV. Myself and Paul are in talks at the minute to appear on a popular saturday morning show when it comes to Northern Ireland this month.

We cant say much at the minute but you guys will be the first to know.

Cheers
