Slip way / area to test new boat
« on: April 22, 2011 »

The other half has managed to get a wee speed boat which he has been tinkering at for 3 months now. He now thinks it is water worthy.
The problem is its not a sea boat, so where could you test it out on a river / lake in and around Newry???

Lough Neagh, I think all slip ways are free there all year round.

There's a slip way onto the Bann in Portadown beside Haldine Fisher. Couple miles of a run then your onto the Lough.

Camlough is a nice spot, but you could do well at warrenpoint harbour very sheltered. Kinnigo bay on lough neagh is not free to launch boats

Warrinpoint has a good slip, but you do'nt want to get caught near low tide as it is deep glar at low water. being tidal it would be wise to take an anchor and oars just in case of engine trouble and keep an eye out for the big rock out in the bay it's very obvious at low tide but there,s just a pole showing at high water. Its usually fairly calm there .camlough might be best for a test run

Managed to get it into a lake near the in-laws just before easter.  The boat is now sold and replaced by a two wheeled machine which goes on land and faster....

Major fail with the boat- typical its sold now and the weather has picked up
