End of Year Trot - Friday 31st December
« on: December 30, 2010 »

Alright folks, few of us are going for a final fling in the Mournes for 2010.  Might as well end the year in style and prepare to start the new year as you mean to go on!

Plan is to meet in the Spelga Reservoir car park, Google Maps link here, at 10am.  Hoping to do a loop of Spelga Reservoir taking in the Hen, Cock and Pigeon Mountains.  Also, as some of us have new toys to play with, we will be stopping to make a proper hot lunch at some stage so feel free to bring a stove.

If you fancy going post your name, and if you want you can drop me a PM with your mobile number in case any of the plans change.  Hope to see y'all there!

Hopefully I'll get down for this one... If I'm coming down I will probably find a nice spot somewhere and set up camp for the night.  I haven't been in the hills since the Christmas Camp and I'm getting serious withdrawal symptoms.

If I'm coming I'll text you in the morning and see you in the carpark at 10:00.

Cock mountain to Pigeon is a boggy hole in the summer, might need waders this time of year  ;D

Hey Landy... What has you up on Donard tomorrow night.  I'm possibly spending a night in the hills but haven't decided on a location yet?

Yep, think could be a fairly boggy affair in places!  Haven't really got a set route though so will just take it as it comes, hopefully will be able to keep the snorkel in the rucksack ;)

one of my presents was a voucher for a torchlight ascent

(i think there's spaces left but it £20 to join the guided walk, i know it seems strange to pay to walk up there  :) )

I had thought about camping up there but i'm undecided  ???

Oh... I'd feel a bit guilty gate crashing this one.  Didn't realise there was gonna be such a crowd on Donard either.  May find a different location  :)
