first person with the correct answer posts the next question
Here We go ???
If your geographical position was 0° latitude, 0° longitude, where in the world would you be? Options: Greenwich, Ghana or The Atlantic Ocean
-
According to Google Maps you'd be in the atlantic ocean off the south coast of Ghana.
Is that cheating?
-
all's fair brother
The answer I have is the Atlantic so it's over to you.
-
In January 2000, Catherine Hartley became the first British woman to reach the South Pole. What was the picture on the flag that she planted there?
a. a lion
b. a thistle
c. a hand
d. a dragon
e. a ship
-
I remember a Blue peter link......
I'll say D. Ship.
-
congratulations, it was the Blue Peter Flag that she planted. Your turn.
-
Name that Hill
(http://www.about.ch/cantons/valais/matterhorn.jpg)
-
The Matterhorn
-
Good man.
Your turn.
-
What is the capital city of the country that used to be called Upper Volta?
-
Ouagadougou :o
sounds like famous last words with 15 stout in me.
who am I?
-
Is that you when you we're younger :D
-
George Mallory ;D
-
Another Famous George from that area ;)

-
George Everest ;D
-
Who first climbed this?
-
Lino Lacedelli and Achille Compagnoni.
It's K2.
-
Which of the following is true:
This town is five miles from Clogher
(http://www.kermit.co.uk/images/a.jpg)
This river is six miles long
(http://www.kermit.co.uk/images/b.JPG)
This road (marked with the 'A') runs for seven miles in a straight line.
(one mile is approximately 1.6km)
And there's an extra point for a full explanation ;)
-
All of them
Augher, Clogher, Fivemiletown,
Six Mile Cross and Seven Mile Round;
Cookstown's straight and long,
The drink is right but the price is wrong.
From Carrickmacross to Crossmaglen, you'll get more rogues than honest men;
It wasn't the men from Shercock nor the men from Ballybeagh
But the dear little men from Crossmaglen put whiskey in my tea.
Thomasina from Ballymena could dance on her toes like a ballerina
But she married a man from Cushendall and now she canna dance at all.
Lisnaskea for drinking tea, Maguires Bridge for brandy;
Lisbellaw for walking straw and Derrylin the dandy.
-
That was a proper tough one :D
-
You're on the right lines, Wrong answer.
only one lives up to its name.
-
OK then, technically none of them are correct.
Fivemiletown is closer to 6 miles from Clogher, the river is obviously not 6 miles long and the road is not exactly straight. ;D
Pedantic? me? ::)
-
::)
that answer would have been a bit more plausible if you'd at least named the river and the road!
:P
-
The road is the Ballagh Road and the river is the Six Mile Water ;D
-
you really want to get this one don't you neiltoo. ;D
I know nothiiinng!
-
one out of two.
need a clue?
-
Doh! Sorry, I was naming the road between Clogher and Fivemiletown. It is of course the "Seven Mile Straight" which is by my reckoning 6.9 miles long ;D
-
"sigh"
I suppose I'll give it to you.
Fivemile town is about 6 miles from Clogher - something to do with Irish miles being longer.
Sixmile water is so called because in the 17th century, when travelling from Carrick to Antrim the river had to be crossed by a ford six miles from both towns. It's about 20 miles long.
the Seven Mile Straight is seven miles long, and it is straight.
no matter what Neilltoo says! :-*
Well done. Your turn.
-
Even I am not going to claim that I got that right ;D Working out where all the places were was hardly answering your question.
Who am I?
-
Ermmm, is it Mouldsy?
-
Good man.
-
Perhaps I made this too specialized. Those are Winter Olympic Ski medals if that helps.
-
This is tough.............. ???
how about another clue
-
Are they Gold Medals? ???
-
Yes. 5 gold, 1 silver and a bronze in total. One of the best ski racers of all time.
-
Ingemar Stenmark
(I totally cheated but in an ingenious way. Can I still have a prize?)
-
All's fair in love and war! ;D
Well done - your turn
-
Jonno,

Well done by the way
-

-
Jonno,

Well done by the way
Erm, I know a website where you link an image and it will show you where else on the internet you can see it. I used that and a touch of detective work and I was sorted... :-X

Is it Walter Sobchak accusing Smokey of cheating during a bowling game in the big Lebowski?
I've only ever seen trailers for the Big Lebowski, so I've no idea how I guessed it'd be that film.
-

Haven't seen that either. Maybe you're psychic!! ::)
-
nice one John....... ;D
Smokey was indeed about to enter a world of pain.
Also could I have 6 numbers the top of your head ;D
-
the six numbers I play twice a week are
1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.
They're every bit as likely to come up as any other six numbers you choose to play.
-

Same as you're just as likely to get dealt a royal flush as any other hand in poker and that it doesn't matter how often a number has appeared in the lottery, it's still no more likely to show up again! The joy of probabability.
-
OK, the next question.
On which OS Discovery map does the mountain 'Trostan' appear
No point in making it an easily googlable question! Since you're all outdoors type people, most of you will probably know where Trostan is, and for anybody who doesn't have the map at home (shame on you) I just nipped into WHSmiths at lunch time to check the answer.
I'll accept either the map number, or the Name of the map.
-
Summit appears on sheet 9
-
Yes indeedy.
did you just know that off the top of your head?
-

On a packet of kendal mint cake there is a little fact/quote, who is it about and what do they say?
-
Edmund Hillary and his team carried Romney's Kendal Mint Cake with them on the first successful ascent of Mount Everest in 1953. The packaging currently includes the following: “'We sat on the snow and looked at the country far below us … we nibbled Kendal Mint Cake.'

Michael Jackson had five songs in the UK top 20 last week.
Nobody's ever had more,
but who was the first person to score 5 simultaneous songs in the UK top 20?
-
The Beatles: From February 22, 1964 until April 25, 1964 the Beatles held the top two positions, with various singles. On some weeks their domination extended past the top two. On April 4, 1964, the Beatles occupied the entire top five.
"Can't Buy Me Love"
"Twist and Shout"
"She Loves You"
"I Want to Hold Your Hand"
"Please Please Me"
-
That's all true, but the beatles aren't a person.
I'm looking for just one person.
-
oh yeah :P
Bugger
-
Any chance of a clue?
-
The obvious choice is Elvis - possibly after his death (or disapperance....)
But I have an nagging doubt........... what about Neil Diamond
-
Ahhh - just read the question again...... to 'score'
John Lennon wrote all those five Beatles songs....
-
This has had me for a while....... >:(
Glad to have a fresh pair of eyes on it.
-
Sorry but this is a sports based question.
FOOTBALL
Which player(within recent history.... since 1966) captained England whilst playing centre half for Scunthorpe United?

-
;D
-
My previous question still applies
-
Reminder of the question
FOOTBALL
Which player(within recent history.... since 1966) captained England whilst playing centre half for Scunthorpe United? He never played for Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea or any of the top clubs but still captained his country, whilst playing in the lower leagues.

-
In decimal degrees: lat 0.336 long 6.734

I'm probably wrong, but since nobody's guessed it I might as well try.

-
200 miles
-
I guess I can say your right
It has been reported he walked over 300km or roughly 200 miles in 7 days to escape and lost so much weight (roughly 36lbs) as his body had started to eat itself to survive. Incidently he also lost all his toenails.
