the beta 2 arrived off ebay. With two sets of new pegs was £47 all in.

its much bigger than I expected, you can sit up in it and I can lie full strech, it has two sets of porches, so could properly be used as a two man tent for ruck sacks, boots etc or one area for gear and one for cooking etc. fancy.

I've never had a tent with alloy poles but they seem great quality to me compared to the plastic jobs I used years ago.

however as a one man tent, it would be very comfy indeed, I think I could even have the girlfriend share it for a maybe a night or two.

would be a bit too cosy for my liking if you were sharing with anyone else lol

vango alpha 300 is 5kg,  I looked at the vango milano 250 as well (its £42 on sale) but its £4.5kg.

theres the vango alpha 250 I think thats 3.6kg?

The beta 2 is just over 3kg, I wouldnt want to go any heavier.

If anything, over time I can see myself going lighter, but at £47, its a decent starter tent and not too much of a shock to the system.

All I need now is a stove and a waterproof and im good to go!

b&m bargains were doing a stove for £8 or £9 and four bottles of gas for £4 in lisburn, dunno about any other stores?
I bought the stove and it seems like a good enough job, i'll get pics if you want?

I think my tent is an alpha 300 (2007 or 2008 though?) and on the bag it says 3.6kg.. wasn't too bad on my bag n i'm only a 'kid' haha!d thats the

EDIT: Says 3.65 on here, and thats the 2010 model? Quite light i thought..

I just took the 5kg figure from here...?

I've kind of my heart set on a trangia, I know ill fret and whinge and then eventually give in and just buy the damn thing from amazon.

not often i'd say it, but i think amazon is wrong lol? it says 3.6 on my bag, and i can't see why with 'newer models' they'd make it heavier! Your sorted anyway, and if i had the money i'd go for a trangia, but the stove was handy enough :)
