Post by: MikeD on June 07, 2010
This One Mans Pass sounds great, its in Donegal, think I might head there at the weekend (by myself I predict!) unless anyone else fancies it...

It does, 1 foot across at its minimum - great Atlantic views too.

I'll try to get some more details about it and do a proper post - and I'll maybe put if off for a few weeks, maybe we can organise a few more peeps to go.

Yes, I think I could make it the weekend of the 3rd, hopefully we can get some other punters on board too.  I can fit a few in my car, I'll need to put a proper post up, will do that soon.....

We could also maybe take in Tory Island - and have a few drinks - with the famously hospitable residents (apparently)...

Maybe, head down first thing Saturday 3rd, spend the day and night on around One Mans Pass, then head on to Tory Island or something.....

Hi everyone, we're thinking of going on Friday 13th August, leaving after work (hopefully a bit early) and getting down to Donegal for a wee camp, then into the hills on Saturday, then returning on Sunday.

Its a BIG open invite for everyone who would like to join us to come along, the scenery is spectacular (apparently !!)  and the craic should be good too.

I'll have 4 places in my car, be a bit of a squeeze with the bags, but I can give whoever a lift.

Hopefully, J will post this as a date on the calendar thing !!

So, get your cooking devices prepared and ready for some One Mans Pass Action !!!!

Would love to do this as well, another geocache site bet heck thats half the fun geocaching.

Whatever way you approach, this one's a challenge.

The Bluestack Mountains in south Donegal are both beautiful and wild.
Do not attempt this cache unless you are competent in navigation and fit enough for several hours of very steep and unforgiving terrain. It goes without saying that you must be properly kitted out. You should plan your route using OSI Discovery series map, sheet 11.
The cache, only large enough for small swap items, is situated within easy reach of the WWII crash site of Sunderland DW-110. A memorial plaque can be found at N54*45.377 W008*04357, (if you visit this site, please treat it with the respect it deserves).
The plane, part of Squadron 228, based in Pembrooke Dock, Wales crashed at 1145pm on 31/1/1944 having been diverted to Castle Archdale base in County Fermanagh due to bad weather in Wales. Seven of the twelve crew members were killed. (further details can be found at www.donegaltown.ie)
