Thanks for having me!
« on: March 31, 2015 »

Hi all,

Trying to get back into the outdoors (if you know what I mean) and I thought it'd be great to hear what others are doing. I'm based in the Carrick-Whitehead-Larne area, and have started to take myself gently into the hills.

Suggestions for challenging but do-able hikes gratefully received.

Hi Martin. I'm a whiteheader myself. The rinkha being my favourite place after the mournes.  When work and family allow I get into the mournes as often as I can. I'd be happy to meet up for a trek.

Sounds good, Hillbilly, if you don't mind an amateur tagging along give me a shout the next time you're heading that way?

The daughter and I are going to venture towards the Hare's Gap over the easter weekend...

You're well handy for the Antrim Hills, there are loads of walks around there all with spectacular views. The Antrim Hills Way and Moyle Way are great. Sallagh Braes are lovely too, great for a Sunday dander for a coffee and watch the sea :)

Plenty of great wee microadventures to be had around that area. With a bivvy bag and a small, light pack you can spend the night very discreetly in a lot of coastal locations.
