What brand does a good all round coat ? ( warm waterpoof ) but not to heavy.

Does anyone rate the Bear gryills coats ?

With a good base layer and microfleece you be sure to stay warm and then all you need is a light breathable wind/waterproof jacket to keep the worst of the weather out but as i said in the other post costwolds is a good place to start your search

PARAMO...........the only way to go Lyndsy's in Coleraine have a good stock of them and cant be beat for price..!

I was in 36hrs of nonstop sideways rain in the highlands of Scotland and was still dry in there paramo veleze smock.........cant be beat....!

IMO burghus packlight.............they also dud the 36hr rain stunt and were great also light weight for when not in use..........

It's horses for courses as far as clothing is concerned. Gore tex is rubbish in cold temperatures and when working up a proper sweat. It can't cope with too much vapour and you end up getting wet from the inside. I hear good things about e-vent membranes, at least it's supposed to be better than gore tex. if you are up in the mountains or adventure racing etc and weight is a premium, then I guess synthetic clothing is ok. For me though, when living in the woods, natural fibres are far superior to synthetics. Wool base layer, wool mid layer and a proofed cotton outer(such as a ventile type of garment) I've been out in some downpours and in a snowstorm and it has kept me dry. And, if it does start to soak through a little, I usually have a poncho with me as well. Natural fibres also have the advantage of being much more fire/spark resistant than synthetic clothing.

I ordered the, Bear Barracks Shirt £30, of e-bay, it would of cost £40 of the bear gryills site

I own the bear Survivor Shoe £50 and i think there are very comfortable (still need to test them in the pissing rain) Tomoro im getting the trousers. All i need now is the knife

but at £395, i think the mora will do !! Ill post what the outfit is like when i hofefully get down the gaints cause way this weekend P.S Spark OMM backpack is a cracker and im thinking strongley of getting it.

I know i sound like a bear gryills want a be, i just want to see what his gear is like cause its a lot cheaper than most of the other brands.

As c-g says it depends totally on what your doing and im always looking at kit from an AR point of veiw i suppose...!

I have to laugh at these survival kits. Ususlly they are full of low quality equipment. What is the need for a survival kit in this country anyway? If you get lost, close your eyes, turn round 3 times and walk off in any direction. After a mile or two at most you will either come to a town or house.

The Paracord Survival Bracelet and The Six Pack Holster would be handy. You could use the paracord bracelet to tide the beer holster of, in the cold water to keep beer chilled.

I won the bid on E-Bay for the Bear Grylls Survivor Trousers £46, RRP £60, So thats the shirt, trousers, shoes, Ill give them a good old work out and post a review. All in for an outfit i payed £126. What do you all think
