As some of you know I'm pretty obsessive about my boot care. Regardless however my trusty Scarpa Mistrals are starting to show their age underneath.

As a result the uppers and liners in my boot look like they're a week old. Even the laces have been changed, so from the top down, you'd reckon I've never been out in them.

The soles however I can't really do anything about and they're beginning to look knackered! I'd say I could maybe get another six months out of them if I'm really lucky.

Re-soling looks expensive, at about 60 quid when I could just get a new pair the same for 100 - or better yet, get a nicer pair.

One thing I did notice about my trusty fabric boots is that while the GTX liner keeps my feet dry, the fabric when wetted out gets very very heavy - entirely negates the weight advantage of a fabric boot and then some.

So for my next purchase I'd maybe consider a leather boot, like a Scarpa Ranger, or SL Activ.

How old are your boots?

Just over a year. Got them in blacks after finding the wee karrimor approach shoes I was wearing werent up to it.

I've worn them pretty much every day about town in and out of work and every single time I've went hiking.

Soles look good to me. I talked about retiring my boots for almost a couple of years but just kept thinking they are still doing the job. There is a lot less tread on mine than it seems on yours.

Eventually the Tiso 50% off sale 'forced' my hand.

nearly new boot time for me also. purely want something lighter than my Brasher trail master . bombproof and many years in them still i'm sure, but heavy old buggers.
think i've had them close to 10years

what you all got?

Brashers Lithium GTX. They can be got cheap of Sports Direct. They're an amazing boot: lightweight but sturdy. Best waterproof capabilities yet I've had for a boot too. Also they're quite adaptable: Bought mine 2 years ago and have raked them about all types of ways, they're still in top form!

yes it's hit and miss trying to get them in your size the lithiums (from sports direct) tried a few stores before xmas with no joy. do look nice boot

My summer boots are Miendl Revolution Lites Very light grippy waterproof and best of all really comfortable, this is my second pair of Meindl fabric boots and the first pair lasted me 8 years in fact they are still going strong. I wear them in the workshop or for short dog walks so I don't wear out my good ones !
