Title: Happy Valley
Post by: Binnianboy on September 27, 2019
Hey folks

It's been a while since I have been in the hills due to a young family but have set some time aside for me and the pup to head up. I have walked pretty much every inch of the Mournes over the years but wanted to ask a quick question about part of a route I have never been on.

My plan is to park at the happy Valley, walk to the stile between meelbeg and meelmore, summit meelmore and bearnagh then descend from the hares gap down to the sheep pens, now what I wanted to know was can I walk from the sheep pens back to the happy valley without going back to the trassey road? I was assuming I could walk along the back of meelmore lodge following the wall back to the car park?

Thanks for the help folks

Yes, there is no problem with that.  That section is very popular, particularly with DofE groups, as Glenn mentioned, even after all these years 😉
