Title: Wicklow Mountains
Post by: fatty-arbuckle on December 03, 2010
Bit of a fastball, im heading down to the Wicklow mountains on Saturday afternoon - any takers?

My usual partner said it was too cold for him, just wondering if anybody else is interested.

Plan is;
Leave Lisburn 'bout 1630
Arrive ivo Glenmalur 1930 (weather dependant)
Set off towards Lugnaquillia 2000
Bivvy up 2200
Off again at sunrise, summit Lugnaquillia via South prison gully
Decent via Clohernagh.

ETD Glenmalur 1230 (Sun)

Kind of a navigation/speed trip.....

Wicklow was a fail, got within 20k's and the roads were impassable :(

Overnighted in the mournes instead.

Brutally cold.

Stayed at Lough shannagh, wandered over doan and meelmore then back in. The lough is completely frozen - so the gullies are certain to be solid...

The lough is hard to see as the snow has settled over the ice.........but it comfortably takes the weight of a person - just dont go out too far ;)
