I would be up for some of this, maybe we should get a group together. Though maybe some of the evening training nights first rather than an event.

Is anyone going to the first LVO event of the year on Saturday in Carnfunnock? I fancy giving it a go, though know nothing about orienteering and can't run the length of myself!! I've emailed them, but heard nothing back from them, but may just drop along anyway. But I'd be interested to know if anyone's going or has been in the past?

I headed to Carnfunnock today to have a go at orienteering with the first Lagan Valley Orienteers event of the year. If anyone's thinking about it, go do it, it's brilliant fun. It appeals to my nerdy love of maps and navigation and although I'd planned on just walking it, I found myself running quite a bit of it. And as someone who normally can't run the length of myself, I surprised myself!! They were very welcoming and helpful to a complete beginner. So, go try it!

And as an aside, I was really impressed with Carnfunnock, I haven't been there in about a year and I noticed that they've put in an outdoor gym. At various locations you come across elliptical trainers, leg presses and various other typical gym machines, all for free. So you can go for a walk/run and get all your machine work done as well, for nothing, and with added fresh air! A lot of credit should be given to the park/council for this amenity.

Typical  ::) I read this thread just after my local one happened  :(

I'm frequent visitor to Carnfunnock so would have loved to attend; maybe I'll make the trek to another event  ;D

The outdoor gym is really good and can be used by the young and the old. It is very hard not to have a go when walking past  :D

They implemented these first along the promenade in Larne a couple of years ago and so far have appeared vandal & weather proof.
I took these pics last year; hopefully the Carnfunnock one's will be as popular  :)
