Title: Climbing at the Hot Rock Tollymore
Post by: Typo-On on June 18, 2012
Just a quick question..

Having been to the Ozone with Lenny and having to Belay each other I was wondering if the Hot Rock is the same or is it auto-descender type things like on some of the mobile walls I've used?

Went at the weekend to sort me and Megan out with harness's etc and it was only then that I thought if we go to the Ozone in the future I can belay her but she's only 8 what am I going to do  :-X

The hot rock Dave actually have 4 auto descenders, and roughly a dozen ropes.

However, to give Megan experience, you could always rope up, her on the belay, and you clip in to the auto descender, that way she can get the belay technique for later on in life.  Though, I'm pretty sure she'd also need to clip in and onto one of the weighted bags at the bottom.

Where did you end up getting the harness?
Two of the autobelays are over two or three nice wee easy routes, nice to start off with.
If you want to hook up some Sunday i'd take Eoghan and have a kids day?
