Any of you heard of it or done it. Not sure the organised route still takes place or not but it's a brilliant route.
Muckish to Errigal taking in all the peaks between. I done it years ago but think its about time I did it again.

The last time this was on was Sept 2010 having being resurrected for the 55th Anniversary of the North West Mountaineering Club. It was cancelled for a number of years due to the numbers taking part. I don’t think theyt run it now. I tried but only got as far as Aghla Mor. A very hard route. Here is a picture of the route:

When I done it my legs were buckling at the end of it. We done it on our own not part of the organised day.

Ooh you are opening a can of worms here. This is a much talked about walk on this forum.
I've been up there a couple of times and have done sections of it. Myself and Rumblebum had a go last year, starting on the Friday night and camping on the summit of Muckish. We then set off in the morning for the rest of the walk but didn't get finished as we ran out of time.
Write up here (http://www.ni-wild.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=2260.msg24331#msg24331)

Thats a brilliant write up. I remember the wee ruin well because we stopped for food at it. Took off up the next climb half way up my dads friend remembered he left his glasses beside the rock. Me being a young wipper snapper at the time was sent back to get them. Now I know why my legs were wrecked at the end of it. ;-)

Thats a great write up and Photos BTW. Good job.

I would love to do this walk. I really want to get some Ireland walks done this year. Can we make this happen please. And avoid the 20th June 'til 9th July or I'll be reduced to tears lol.

I am definitely going to do this again at some point. If there was something organised on here and dates suited then I'm there.

I was up in the area the day of the last organised walk. We were walking the opposite way: Errigal>Mackoght>Beaghy. The oncoming walkers were absolutely punctured. It is a savage descent down to Altan Lough and tight going all the way up to Errigal.

tight going all the way up to Errigal.
The one good thing I found was you are well warmed up for errigal. I have seen us landing over there and going straight up errigal without a warm up. Always good to get a wee bit in the legs before a climb. This route is a bit more than a wee bit but it is a challenge something you dont do everyday.

As said before the NWMC (Joey Glover was a member) stopped organising it when the numbers got too much. It was destroying the paths too.
Not an easy walk, but nothing too bad if you take your time.
The tough section either way is the ascent from Lough Altan.
I remember Errigle seeming easy compared to the previous section. Then there were the horrible Kms on the road to the finish.
Fantastic walking country round there - real wilderness between the Poisoned Glen and Bunbeg. You need to know how to navigate, and tons of wild camp options. I've camped near Glentornan Lough in the past.
For another interesting but shorter option, Errigle from the s/western ridge is a fine scramble, or even the south.

End of May Rich and I are looking to do this if anyone else interested.
