Has anyone had any problems viewing the photo competition thread? at work i've had bother since we upgraded from IE6 to IE8 ans assumed it was just my computer but someone else mentioned to me that they had a similar problem where it actually threw them out of the forum!

You could try turning on Compatibility View. I've had a lot of problems with web pages in work and turning this on has solved a lot of problems:

I've tried that and still not working :( the problem seems to have got worse in that i can now only view the hompage (maybe it was always like that, not sure ??? ) when i look at any other thread i get an error popup box
when i click ok i get a white screen

Try this solution for the problem:
In IE, Click Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced Tab and then uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions"... after you uncheck that option, restart your browser and try to cause the error. If the error goes away, it was an add-on. Now, once you know it is an add-on you can reanble add-ons and then disable them one by one in Tools -> Manage Addons to find the offending culprit.
The Skype plugin can cause this problem, but others could easily be the culprit too.
Again let me know and then we will break out the team of NI-Wild Geeks. I'm not a fully qualified geek yet ::)

Few Qs:
1) Does this only happen in one thread?
2) If it happens in more than one thread does it consistently or sometimes the thread works and sometimes it doesn't?
3) Can you tell me what version of IE you are using (click help -> about)?
4) Does the website work in other browsers (Chrome / Firefox)?

don't have those options on this computer
also, due to some computerwizardy i can run another window with ie8 using another server (a sort of proxy system) this works fine but takes me ages to login, uses exact same version of ie8, i think i'll just go through all the settings and make sure they match
