Slieve Donard Challenge (20 Jun 09)
« on: April 23, 2009 »

Slieve Donard Car Park

Slieve Donard, known in Irish as Sliabh Domengard, is the highest mountain in Northern Ireland. Situated by the small seaside town of Newcastle on the east coast, it sits at the edge of the Mourne Mountains only 3km from the sea.

This mountain challenge provides walkers with spectacular views of the coast and as far as Belfast. Running along the mountain’s southern and western shoulders, the Mourne Wall path is very eroded in places. Trekkers are able to ascend safely thanks to the laying of a stone pathway on the steepest parts of the route in recent years.

Why not get friends and family involved and register together as a group?

Marie Curie class this walk as "Boot level two"
