Cairn Wood
« on: January 09, 2010 »

Just had a wee dander around Cairn woood today in the snow with the dog. Great fun walking in the snow with no one about.

Everyone loves pictures so.....

This brave wee guy sat for ages and eventually rested on my hand.

Very much so, well they were yesterday. Portavoe is well frozen too. I keep forgetting about the forest up there but when I actually get up its class. I would not mind a sneaky overnighter up there at some point. ::)

Looks like a top day out. Cairn wood is a great spot, not very big though. Car park can be a big dodgy at night in the summer though.

I have got permission of the ranger and wouldn't mind a night or two up there myself but like jonno says the car-park is a bit dodgy.
My daughter and I were up today and had some great fun following the badger tracks and squirrel tracks we were able to follow the badger tracks right back to the set.

That sounds really cool. I've been up a good few times and never spotted any sign of animal activity. Don't really know what to look for though.

Plenty of wildlife up there mate, we also saw some deer, mouse and pheasant trails and a bird of prey kill as well, but as usual I didn't have a camera with me.
