Hi Dave,

Hope your getting all these messages  :)

You will be an NI-Wild Legend when (not if) you complete this TGO Challenge 2012.

Just take your time, enjoy some of the most amazing scenery in the world, enjoy your grub and enjoy your rest.

When you cross that finish line you will feel like you've conquered the world and just think of the stories you will have for around the campfire.  Can't wait to hear them dude!!!  ;)

take it day by day dave so in your head you only have to achieve a few miles (like i used to do donard, pick a rock and aim for it then rest before going again) a good night in a b&b hopefully you'll feel refreshed, do this and you'll be welcomed home like man city ( i hope your not a man utd fan  8) )

p.s. i tidied the pics above up a little to make them more viewable, keep that smile dave  :)

:'(   dave it just needs lubricated with alcohol, and i don't mean the rubbing stuff  ;)

fair play to you for having a crack at it anyway, the odds were stacked highly against you:  alone, bad weather, leaky boots, and worst of all, a broken camera! i would have gone home as soon as i dropped the camera  ::)

Aww Dave, I feel for you dude!!!

But well done for having the sense to pull out if you were struggling with the knee. Last thing you need is a highland rescue situation, especially when travelling alone.

Safe home Dave

There is nothing worse Dave than sore feet, you've done the right thing..
You could have done more damage to your knee if you had of continued. My knee is still giving me jip from last month's day in the hills, I ended up buying a really expensive knee support and tablets to help in its healing.
There is always next year.. and if you are allowed you can always join us in Connemara in August!

Hard luck dave,  :( You did your best and there's no point in battling on and doing yourself serious damage, I admire you for giving it a go!

I typed a reply there, but it doesn't appear to have posted... second time lucky!

Really sorry to hear you had to withdraw from the Challenge Dave :(  With the poor weather and the high mileage on Sunday it sounds like you really had your work cut out for you!  No shame in having to withdraw, it was the sensible thing to do given the circumstances, and you still did a darned good distance in the Highlands!

You know what this means Dave... you and me will have to enter as a team next year to banish our bad luck ;)

Dave, sorry to learn of your misfortunes.  I hope that you have a boring, uneventful journey back home.  After some TLC and time to reflect perhaps you'll be able to accept that your decision, albeit a forced one was the correct one, for you and others.
Your achievement in any event cannot be underestimated, you are alive, a little bruised, physically and no douibt emotionally but otherwise in one piece.  Well done.

I look forward to meeting with you again soon.

Regards,

George
