Howdy all,
got some english friends coming over in a couple of classic cars for a bit of touring and camping, only for a few nights.
Going to show them the mournes, and probably stay at Meelmor that night.
The main problem is where to stay as we head northwards, plan to visit Bushmills and work back down the coast for the ferry in Larne, is Carnfunnock any good? Is there anywhere good somewhere near Bushmills, don't really fancy Portush or any caravan sites, basically the cheaper and quieter, the better!
We'll be bringing bog roll :D Even any public land or good spots for wild camping?

Carnfunnock is excellent.
There are a couple campsites in Bushmills, though I can't rember what they are called.

While mainly a site for static and touring caravans there is a small area for camping. This whole site is spotlessly clean. The toilet/shower block is probably the best in Ireland and there are kitchen facilities ie for cooking and washing up. The gate is closed at night so would give added security to the classic cars. The downside is is that because of its high standards its difficult to get booked though that may be different for camping one or two nights. The beauty is that you can walk into Bushmills village.
happy camping.

Glenariff Forest Park might also be an option, although I havent camped there in years. Lovely location though!

Any campsites suitable for groups near Antrim or Ballymena? Even anywhere rough up Slemish direction that anybody can recommend? Possibly even slightly further North, we plan on visiting Bushmills but it might be a long run from Meelmor, any good sites that far up even? Basically anywhere between Antrim and Bushmills.
Pretty much plan on Meelmor, somewhere up towards bushmills, and then Carnfunnock as they have a 10am ferry the last day, is Carnfunnock suitable for groups in july? Am I likel to need to book any of these?
Cheers!
