Hello...

Hi all, I'm Daniel. Some of you may have met me at the recent camp on Slieve Meelmore; I was the guy with Tim whose tent broke.

I've been climbing in the Mournes for a few years, mostly recently and enthusiastically with my friend Tim. I mostly like very long hikes, summit camps and any time when the tent doesn't break. I'm interested in getting into rock climbing and some more ambitious mountaineering (hopefully somewhere in mainland Europe in a few years.)

Anyway, I figured I should join up in case I accompany Tim on any more NI wild trips, and hopefully next time I won't quit and go home  :P

You had a hell of a night considering you had to hike back down in the dark in somewhat unsettled weather!

Welcome aboard, hopefully we'll get you into the hills for a second go at it in better weather.

Actually the walk home was great fun. I usually think that bad weather makes hiking more interesting, but I was so disorganised that night that I was completely soaked and so was all my gear, so camping would not have been fun for me.

Hi Daniel

I can't believe how unlucky you were that night on Meelmore.  Not only did your tent pole break but it is probably the first time I have ever been in the hills that I didn't have a roll of Gaffer Tape with me.
