Suspectmonkey and myself have been dabbling in some amateur astronomy recently so we're going to tag along at the Irish Astronomical Society observing night at Castle Espie this Friday night (11th March). We're not members but they seem happy for non members to come along. If anyone else fancies it let me know.
On Friday 11th March we will be making a return visit to what has become a very regular venue for us, Castle Espie near Comber, County Down. This will, weather permitting, be an outdoor observing night with a striking crescent Moon adjacent to the Seven Sisters, Jupiter setting in the West, and for late stayers, Saturn rising in the East.
Orion and Sirius will be promienent all evening, and if the weather lets us down, we will be running shows in the Stardome as well as displays of telescopes, meteorites and other astronomical paraphenaila.
This is a night not to be missed, Friday 11th March starting at 7:30pm at Castle Espie.

Sounds interesting. I'm grounded for a while. Been out 2 weekend s in a row.
Did any one see the Northern lights recently? Apparently it was really visible along the North coast.

Wouldn't mind coming along to that myself.
Been doing a bit from my back garden and been to coupla meetings with NIAA.
OK with you guys if I tag along?

Sounds like we might be trying to pick the stars out from between the snow flakes ;)

Yeah...weather not looking too good.
Would like to go and see the Stardome though. Never seen one before.
