irish2010 saying hi
« on: July 15, 2009 »

Been on the outside looking in for long enough....  Just to say hi, I'm based in Bangor and getting back into the wilderness after too many years away.  I bought a canadian canoe last year and like to combine a trip with some wild camping and some bushcraft...(ain't uncle Ray got a lot to answer for).

Love the site, some great tips and now glad to be a part of it all

 :)

Welcome to the site. Canadian canoeing and bushcraft go well together, I have an Old Town Charles River and it's great for island camping.

You can't go wrong with the boil in a bag meals the mightn't sound great but you'll be surprised. I got my girlfriend to try them and she loved them. You can pick them up from cotswolds or any camping shop.

Welcome to the forum Irish... does anyone remember the birds eye curries that were boil in the bag now they were tasty. Nowadays they are all in fancy nuclear/microwave proof trays... bring back the bag  >:(

;D LOL at Kendogbaggio, showing your age now....

Welcome Irish2010 and Undestructables to the forum.

just buy a bigger gas cooker and cook as if at home undestructables.

I remember my mum cooking on a two ring gas stove when I was a kid and we had spuds fish finger beans etc, just cause your in a tent doesn't mean you have to resort to boil in the microwave tray meals...

but must admit bacon and sausage baps are handy and nice when out and about.
